Please check the CBNSat forum for more information about what they are doing. Looks like you guys will also have to come up with something like this.

Please keep updating us on the latest developments as the weekend progresses.

LBN Court hearing postponed to 28th July 2006

Postponement seems to be the name of the game and the LBN Court hearing has now been postponed to Friday 28th July. The reason that has been given is that the TRC needs more information and time.

Well looks like it is going to be another wait and we would seriously like to see a better involvement in the part of the LBN Customers. LBN also seems not be fighting this case hard enough.

We would like if you folks out there can post exactly what happened at the hearing today and the exact reasons for postponement and verify whether the information that we received is acurate. Please keep us updated as the day progresses.

LBN Court Case today 21st July 2006

Customers of LBN Cable TV will be closely watching what happen's today since the LBN hopes that something fruitful will emerge at today's court hearing.

Reports suggest that the TRC and the Media Ministry have been asked to submit documents today regarding LBN. Although initial reports said that the LBN reps have told that transmissions may begin this evening, reports received later suggest the end of this month.

Let's just hope that the authorities concerned will take the plight of over 10,000 LBN Cable Subscribers and issue a favourable verdict.

This has got dragged along for too long and it is now time to stop this madness of trying to suppress the media in sri lanka.

We request the LBN Customers and manangement to keep updating us on the results of today's court hearing.

LBN : Next Court hearing on 21st July 2006 ?

Mixed and confused reports are coming in regarding LBN. The initial report said that LBN will get the license on Friday 21 July 2006 but now it looks like there is a Court Case on friday too and the TRC and Media Ministry have asked to submit any documents. There are also reports that LBN hopes to resume transmissions by the end of this month.

Customers of the Cable TV companies that were shutdown have learnt not to hope too much these days.

It will be very good if even transmissions are started by the end of the month at least. But it is sad to note that the newspapers are not publishing any news regarding LBN and it seems like we have to rely solely on the information provided by the LBN reps.

Hopefully LBN will get the newspapers to publish information about what is happening in their court hearings. This will enable us to get to know the truth regarding this whole scenario. At the moment it is easy to misunderstand and think that LBN is hiding something.

We urge the customers of LBN to write to the officials concerned until the connection is restored. It is also advantageous for the customers of LBN to write to H.E. President Mahinda Rajaspakse and ask him to give relief to over 10,000 LBN subscribers.

In the mean time hopefully this situation will be resolved soon.

We would like to request all of our fellow bloggers and LBN customers to keep updating this forum as the day progresses on what really transpired at courts today and whether the information that we received is true.

LBN Court Case on 18th July 2006

Is there any information on the LBN Case? Things seem to be unclear since LBN Management have the same information running on their website too. It is high time pressure was put on LBN to join with CBNSat. At least CBNSat has aggitated some people, LBN is keeping quiet only.

Remember an Industry standing up together is better than an individual company fighting on it's own. Over to LBN Management.

Is the LBN Case confirmed on 18th July 2006 confirmed. Please continue to keep updating this blog on the news about LBN as the weekend progresses. We also urge all the LBN customers to keep sending letters via registered post to the authorities concerned urging them to allow LBN to resume transmissions. E Mail is not effective. Let's continue until transmissions are resumed and do not slow down when promises are made. We have noticed a reduction since the temporary license news came out.

Very Important Information for Customers

There is some very important information for Cable TV customers in this so please read on till the end.

Like we said yesterday the case has been postponed till August 15th 2006. Please follow the below links for more information.

Cable TV providers case postponed (Daily Mirror 7th July 2006)

There's a major security concern needing attention - Counsel (The Island 6th July 2006)

We like to thank Mr. Vidarsha Dharmasena who has taken this matter to all authorities, please click to read the letter. A bit of advice to all of you who are appealing to the authorites, it is better to send them an official letter by postal services than email since the posted letter is more official than email. Since EMail is not taken as official communication at times. We hope someone can post the addresses of the following institutions.
  1. The Presidential Secretariat
  2. The Consumer Affairs Authority
  3. The Media Ministry
  4. The TRC
  5. The SLRC
Those of you who want the services restored back can request these authorities to allow LBN to restore services. Remember you as citizens of Sri Lanka have a right to appeal. If we do so then we will be backing those people who have already sent the authorities letters.

We also found an interesting comment in the CBNSat blog by "Dude" about an Organization called "Consumers International" apparently they fight for the rights of Consumers. Looks like the kind of people who are needed at the moment by the Cable TV customers.

Web Address is : http://www.consumersinternational.org/

We like to thank "Dude" for posting the comment about Consumers International. All their contact information is available on this site, if all of you are able to write to this organisation and request them for help, stating the situation in sri lanka regarding the cable tv scenario, there is a very good chance that they will help out. All CBN and LBN Customers should write to them.

Well as we go into the weekend we would like all our fellow bloggers to keep updating this blog on any new developments and NEVER SAY DIE.

What is happening?

At yesterdays court case involving all the Cable Operators namely CBNSat, LBN and SATNet it was told that they need to wait till August 15th for ther next hearing since the media ministry will have to draft the regulations.

Now whether this ruling has any effect on LBN we do not know but we would like anyone who has further news to please post and make the positions clear for the sake of all of us. LBN Management a update from you is highly appreciated. LBN is supposed to have a case on July 18th, does any one know the status of that case.

An individual by the name of Mr. M0han Mendis has sent an email to Consumer Affairs Authority and please click to read the email.

We urge all the customers of LBN and CBN to write to the TRC, SLRC, Media Ministry, Consumer Affairs authority and also appeal to the President since we are sure that the President will take the matter seriously and take some action if the affected consumers take their grievances to him.

Since there are many asking about refunds. The stability of the company is now coming into question since the case is being postponed and no one is sure for how long the company can stay in business without an income since they have a staff to support.

No one can answer these questions except LBN so if LBN can answer these questions it will clear many doubts that customers are having at present. Anyway for customers who want a refund it is best to start applying now and anyway we also feel that all customers of both providers should also write to the authorities concerned and also try to get these services back on track. It will not hurt to apply for the refund and also push the authorities concerned to restore the service since at least even if the customers do not get the service back they can at least have the money back and explore other avenues or they would be able to get the service back.

Over to the authorities concerned and the management of LBN.

PLEASE DO NOT FORGET ABOUT THE CONSUMERS PLEASE.

LBN to have a court hearing today 5th July 2006 ?

Information is coming in that LBN will be appearing before courts today after the CBNSat hearing. Can anyone of the LBN Customers please confirm this.

Was there any communication to the customers from LBN and what it the hearing today all about? It looks like the LBN case has taken a lower profile to CBNSat.

The CBNSat CEO Mr. Muhunthan Canegey requested all operators to join hands and fight this issue as an industry and not individually. What is LBN's response to that?

Over to the management of LBN? Please do not keep your customers in the dark.
