LBN Case postponed to 18th July 2006

It is not good news for the LBN Customers as the Court Case seems to have been postponed to the 18th of July 2006.

Reports indicate that the LBN Situation is far more complicated than CBNSat. Hopefully the management of LBN will give a full explanation to the public via a press conference or any other means. It is high time they explain the present situation to their customers.

Hopefully our fellow bloggers will continue to update the latest situation regarding LBN as the day progresses and as the story unravels. Still there are no confirmed reports of what actually happened in the court today.

More participation on the part of LBN customers is required, since we do not see the LBN customers being active as the CBNSat Customers are.

I fully agree with the moderator that LBN customers are not expressing their thoughts as much as CBN customers.

Have to hand it over to the CBN customers that they have been patient but freely expressed themselves and lets hope that decision tomorrow will be positive and conclusive and that it will also pave way for LBN as well.

LBN please show solidarity to your company just like CBN customers are to CBN and aggressively seek justice and equity.End result will be a positive outcome of peoples power for equity.

Can't they do anything before 18th. What is the big damage done if they let continue transmission and sort these issues. I don't see any life & death issues here by watching cable tv.

R V also to go to courts tommorrow to support the CBN case?

just called LBN and all they're saying is the usual we also don't know sir etc. this behaviour is certainly suspect if not unprofessional to say the least.

During conversations with the director of LBN (prior to this whole shutdown affair that is) he struck me as being an honest and forthwright chap. However the call centre crew who man the LBN phones certainly don't carry any of those qualities with them. I do not know if they are being briefed (or not as it were) by the higher LBN powers to seem dumb to customers or not but it gives LBN a totally shady look.

Get your act together guys. As a customer I have called in on more than one occasion and pledged my support as a customer surely you owe information to your loyal customers.

one of the LBN reps said that they will 'definitely' be resuming the service but didnt have a clue when asked about when or how. if the company has nothing clandestine about it which I don't think they do why be so tight lipped? LBN has been offering a quality service for almost a decade why do they have to act like this now?

read on another post that LBN seems to be in trouble cos they dont seem to have TRC clearance but LBN claim they have all required licence except this so called new Rupavahini COrporations license. The truth is shrouded in mystery anyone who knows more please do post

Well have to see what happens to CBNsat tomorrow, if they resume services from this week, we can be hopeful that LBN services also may be resumed shortly.

I think the TRC licence is true and their case is more or so against the TRC,Of what i hear the applications of the new licening procedure closes on 21.07.2006 and they would have asked time to process the LBN proposal.

As for CBNsat they have the TRC clearance and not one from the so called media ministry and this is supposed to be under control and can be seen at courts today.

surely though after being in the business for so many years the TRC would have called out this license issue ages ago. And what's with LBN & CBN Sat both not constantly checking whether these phantomlike new licenses need to be taken. It's their responsibility too end of the day the consumers suffer. So much for watching the round of 16 at the world cup.

Agreed, and i feel all these guys(TRC,CID,SLRC) should sit down with the operators and sort out any problem amicably without dragging on the court case for flimsy reasons as the ultimate victims are the General Public or the subscribers.

The real jokers are these watch dogs who have woken up from a deep slumber and without looking at the subscriber interest for which they are there, they are on a differant mission in giving in to corrupted individuals with vested interest and a stake in the industry.

Its time the LBN and CBN subscribers get together and face this unethical acts of these individuals with a hidden agenda.

well said.

perhaps these so called watchdogs are attempting to get the fabled 'something eka' from LBN & CBNSat. These watchdogs are the most corrupt I'm sure they're trying to make a fast buck on this.

This Lbn case is really getting seriouse.... we would like to here from the management what is really going on.....

i hear lbn's history. the company was originally started by the father, who was also the chairman for ceylon electricity board at that time. so he gave the green signal to his pvt company to lay cables through the electricity cable poles.what a good thing, if our fathers were also in big posts of government organisations! anyways without a TRC license they have been laying cables around, and it seems now a criminal offence. so that is why we are not getting any information from them!
i think they ought to keep us in light as some respect for us customers

Anonymous said...

Wow this is really bad news, but if they are going to switch to digital then this issue should be resolved as then their service would also look something like cbnsat, of course not sure if that is also acceptable for the TRC

LBN doesnt ues CEB poles,I live down small lane where only CEB poles are present & when I request the connection they said they cannot connect me with out their own poles. then I requested them to use the telecom / ceb poles, they refused, then I had to wait until they plant their own poles to give connection to the entire lane.

All these shit started by CBN, related to their LTTE links, CBN wanted to investigate other operators licences.but they forgot about comet cable. still operating over to cbn smart customers.

why Free media movment is silent about lbn, is it because they dont support tera's.

What are we gaoing to do next do we need to wait till July 18th?? I called LBN office and the reply waht i got was "Hopfully we will resume by July 18th". Even they are not sure of what is happening. The LBN Managemnet has to inform their customers of the letest happenings.

Anonymous said...

YES THEY'LL DRAG THIS UNTIL THE WORLD CUP IS OVER ON JULY 9TH. ANYWAY ENGLAND TOUR IS ALSO FINISHED BY THE 1ST OF JULY. THEY WILL SAY 1001 EXCUSES TO DELAY LBN RESTART THE OPERATIONS AND AS YOU SAID THEY WILL BE IN HUGE TROUBLE EVEN IF THEY GET A CHANCE TO RESTART.

BECAUSE THE DAMAGE HAS BEEN DONE TO THEIR NAME. THIS MONTH WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE MOST SUCCESSFUL MONTH OF SALES BECAUSE OF THE WORLD CUP.

AND AFTER THIS CASE THE PROSPECTIVE CUSTOMERS WILL ALSO STEP BACK OF BUYING A CONNECTION AS THEY DON'T WANT TO LOSE THEIR MONEY.

SO OVER TO YOU LBN TO COME BACK WITH A THUNDERING MARKETING CAMPAIGN TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF SUBSCRIBERS.

INCREASE THE CHANNELS AND IMPROVE THE SERVICE.

THE REAL CHALLENGE LIES AHEAD !

I can reconfirm the fact that LBN does NOT use SLT or CEB poles I had to wait a long time to get my connection because a few poles had to be installed to get the cable upto my place. if they use slt or ceb they could easily have done my connection a long time ago.

Lbn is a decent and lawful operator it's just this silence from the management that's worrying

CBN & LBN have been banded. it's ok for the national security. but from june 6th what ever happened in Srilanka. who take the responsibilities.& all equipments imports for the above organaistaions done through TRC.now their under deep shit.our judges, layers, media & honerable politicians dosnt know the differene between cable tv, satalite tv.only thease jokers no about flat tv & noramal tv. sony tv, Lg tv ect.....

Anonymous said...

LBN does use CEB poles in some cases, they have not been doing this recently but they have done this in the past, I live in a private road and all the households have LBN connections and 2 CEB poles have been used by LBN for this

Anonymous said...

well, i can confirm LBN uses CEB poles to run their cables. in my area, LBN doesnt have any poles belonging to them. its all done through CEB poles.I can double confirm that!

Anonymous said...

i feel lbn is slowly getting a free ride on cbn! if they were to succeed they need to hold hands with cbn.

i also feel lbn is trying to separate them selves and trying to get relief. If they dont stand as one industry, i doubt the future of cable industry!

i spoke to lbn reps now about the ceb poles issue. What they say & few of my friends in nawala said was they are using LECO poles not CEB.Leco is one of their share holders and yhey have the agreement to do so. pls When we speak in this blog try to give the correct info, & not misleading ones.

Anonymous said...

Connections through CEB/LECO is a separate issue i beleive. According to LBN reps they don't have TRC & Rupahavini license to operate. At least CBN has TRC. LBN reps were earlier lying to us saying that they have both. Now they admited it. However, they say that there is no need to have such license to opearte. But apllied since the govermnet requests to do so. This is very very funny.I doubt that they get license within a short period unlike CBN. Poor Management!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

If you realy dosent no any thing please dont post eny matters. If you read yesterday's Sunday observer TRC'S requirments were given to obtain the licences. CBN have a TRC licence that for EGO.( Data transmission).
1. CBN belives thats enough for them.
2.LBN dosent use frequencies , they belives thats enough for them.
The all equipments imported under TRC.

Anonymous said...

belief is not enough...prove it..
Poor Management

I am not satisfied with the letter sent by LBN. Usual stuff spoken by their reps is documented.

Can somebody suggest anything that we could do to wake up the LBN management? They seem not worrying about these lengthy postponements.

Anonymous said...

well

atleast cbnsat has something,as something like a ego licence, but lbn doesnt have anything, poor management indeed,im wondering wether they even resume transmissions by the 18th,im highly doubtful

ego license is enough to operate cbn's trc standard cuz they are indeed providing DATA,data over sattelite air, what do you call the internet, thats allso data being sent out as media in text, voice, and video

LBN should have atleast got a ego license, its just stupid

god

I think LBN is like somebody who drives a car with radio license
