LBN Appeals Court Case today

The LBN Appeals Court Case will be held today (Oct 13th). We are expecting the license to be granted today and for LBN to resume operations. We hope that authorities will grant the required licenses and allow LBN to operate from today.

Please update us on the time of the hearing as well as the result of the hearing as the day progresses.

No dates given it seems..Trc will give license today or monday after which they can go for a motion at the magistrates court as its this court which has sealed the premises

Does anyone know how much time this takes...The whole procedure is really getting on my nerves

apparently if they get the license on monday they will put the case into the magistrate court on monday itself (which strikes me as highly unlikely) and then the likelihood is that it will take a further 2 weeks to get the magistrate court to order the removal of seals (since one court in sri lanka doesn't see the validity of the verdict of another court of course notwithstanding the fact that it IS TWO seperate cases) anyways fellow cable less brethren there does seem to be some light at the end of the tunnel (but we shouldn't get any of our hopes up since many carrots have been dangled in front of noses on this regard) It remains to be seen if the TRC will give the license on Monday. Because today was supposed to be the absolute FINAL deadline for them to issue the license ( so how did they get an extension till monday ) Justice moves in mysterious ways I guess. Anyway let us pray that we'll be able to watch some real TV in NOvember. Amen

Here's another problem apparently even after TRC license is given and seals are removed and LBN resumes transmission they are THEN going to have to sort out the broken or frayed cables so that the network is functioning perfectly. I mean what were all those test transmissions (which I for one never received) for? Shouldn't this maintainance have been done in this rather long lull period. Once again the customer suffers.

Test transmissions did take place on thursdays from around 12 to 4(although it was to be from 10 to 4)..About the maintentance delay ya its said they mite take 2-3 days to retore broken cable lines..they could continue to maintain the lines coz of the court order..(BLGer)

By the way i thought a higher court verdict is enough to validate an order given by lower courts???

LBN reps have informed me that the president has signed the documents but they are yet to receive the license but are hopeful of resuming transmission before the end of this month (Oct). I replied back saying that we have heard this "Hoping to resume Transmission before the end of this month" many many times before and is nothing new. I also pointed out that they have come accross as a "weak" and "passive company" who instead of "making things happen" are simply "Hoping for the best". Having waited for 5 months for this to sort itself out in all fairness I will give them another week to keep their word. After that I will get a "DISH TV" connection and use the LBN cable as a clothes line. I think the govt of sri lanka has now learnt that thanks to modern technology - they will not be able to control the media and what it's citizen's should watch. Thanks to this modern technology we will not have to watch absolute rubbish such as "Shakalaka Baby, Friends, Praveena" an even some of the Flops that an english tv channel shows during weeends.
