LBN resumes test transmissions from today

It is confirmed that LBN is starting test transmissions from today Jan 4th (Refer Web Site www.lbn.lk). This is indeed great news for the customers of LBN who have been deprived of their entertainment for over 6 months.

We are not certain whether testing is commencing for the analog and the digital subscribers or only for the analog subscribers.

We are not sure when the commercial operations are said to begin however we believe that this may happen in about two weeks but there may be delays taking into consideration that the system was kept shut for a long period of time.

Congratulations to the management of LBN and specially the MD Mr. Shirantha Herath on the victory and we hope that things will move smoothly from today onwards.

We kindly request the LBN subscribers to update us on the channels that are available and the areas in which the test transmissions can be received as the days progress.

According to LBN they are publishing 20+ channels including local TV's.

They said most of them should be able to see it now. I am from Moratuwa..but couldn't see anything..may be something wrong with my remote ( Batteries dead)

Does any of you receive signals

Could anybody confirm receiving the test transmission please?

HI CAN ANYOF YOU REPLY? Can anyone see these test transmision?

are we finally seeing light at the end of the tunnel?

We get some news that the coverage is still limited to a certain areas where power switches are on mode. Other Areas they have to switch on the same after informing the CEB. This has to be done with repair work to any broken/damage cables and transmitters. So it will take few days to have a full test coverage.

However, we appreciate if LBN update their web with details so that everybody could get the news officially

Some channels back on air

Some channels, mostly local were visible in the Ratmalana area around 12.30 p.m. today. Most of them were not that clear. Perhaps, some tuning should hopefully give a better picture. Forgotten how the hell to tune also because had been out of tuning for more than six months!

When contacted what LBN says is that the Test Transmission on and all areas covered. Please clarify.

WAITING FOR OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

Surely, LBN can give subscribers the status quo on its website. What’s the use of a bland website announcing a test transmission when everybody now know that it’s happening. How many channels are visible and when will the station be fully operational? This is the kind of info everybody is craving for. We are awaiting an official announcement LBN.

How many, please…

Can anybody confirm how many channels are visible – both local and foreign, with the areas they are being received, please? We can then roughly calculate on how the signals are being received in different areas. After 6 long months, we are still left to do our own calculations as LBN opts to remain silent.

LBN’s official announcement to come after the appeal court hearing on the 9th. They have to officially withdraw the case against the relevant authorities.

doqjghLBN customer service says 22 channels can be viewed, but in some areas, the cables have to be done up. Can any subscriber confirm receiving all these channels? If so, what’s the area?

Rathmalana Friend

Those local chaneels you have received may not be from LBN but normal signals without an antena.

It is highly unlikely that the signals are upto that area as power switches are not yet activated.

My guess is by early next week

I agree with the last comment. We have a power unit and upto now LBN has not told us to switch it on (although we have.) For the signal to reach a subscriber all power units along the way have to be powered on.

Friends What is the latest Is anybody other than LBN seeing this test transmission?????

Anonymous said...

I do also agree with some of the previous colleagues comments. In Dehiwala too nothing seems to happen. I contacted a technical staff of LBN and he confirmed that until they get the power points switched on with CEB it will not reach the entire subscribers. Let us wait a few days more!!!!!!!

Guys

I spoke LBN guys. According to them,
* Test transmission is uninterupted
* Still a limted area is covered ( Some areas in Wellawatta, Col 05 e.t.c covered partially)
* 22 channels are tested including ESPN,STAR and local channels)
* They are still attending to broken cables and Power switches
* You better lodge a complain with your name & address for them them to get an idea and attention

iNOT A HUM SO FAR..!

As a group of LBN subscribers in Ratmalana-Soysapura-Angulana, we must report that our TVs are still dead. Not a single channel can be seen. No change whatsoever. Can LBN tell us when we will be able to view at least a channel or two? When will the power switches re-activated in our areas which are not so far from Colombo. According to bloggers, nobody has been able to see any of the 22+ channels which LBN says is on air on a test transmission, except for some hazy local channels.
Can LBN please clarify?

We also agree with the last comment. Not a whimper here in Ratmalana. A large concentration of subscribers in this area because this was where GTV (the original company) launched the network (and also had its office). Still waiting. Let us know, LBN.
