LBN gets go ahead for resumption

According to unconfirmed sources we hear that LBN has got the clearance from the Appeals Court to recommence transmission. We are yet to verify this information.

In addition LBN has updated their web site stating the following.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Test Transmission Only

Due to extensive damaged caused to the network during the last seven months some customers may not receive the test transmission until the network is rectified. This is expected to take up to two weeks
-----------------------------------------------------------------

We hope that LBN sheds some light on the proceedings in court today and makes an official press release on the resumption of test transmission.

We can gather from the information on the LBN website that commercial operations will only resume after two weeks.

Please keep us updated on the latest regarding LBN as the day progresses and more information on the hearing today is received.

as it not accessible without index/html

LBN: Please change the default

This is LBN Style...

It seems that LBN has not planed for a resumption...if they get two weeks to update the network..you can then imagine the rest of the work...

Common LBN MD, you need new think tanks...

Is it the way you respond to your loyal subscribers?

At least update the subscribers with latest status

Tech Guys

Can you explain us as to how the cable network works?

If a cable is broken/down in one area, will it affect the other areas beyond that point?

E.g

If a Cable is damage in Dehiwala...will it be an isuue for customers in Mt.Lav, Ratmalana e.t.c

Anonymous said...

When will anderson road in kalubowila be restored??

Anonymous said...

Why are they not transmitting all the channels if ESPN star and local channels are working that means my cable is OK

Anonymous said...

Dehiwala Ratnakara Place Signals are OK. Although I have subscribed to a premium package, I have a analog line. Therefore I do not get Zee Cinema. I get AXN, ESPN, star sports, Sun tv, VH1, nickalodeon, Channel news asia and the all the local channels.

Anonymous said...

Sorry for the above. It should read as Zee Studio.

Anonymous said...

Most of the paid channels were disconnected after the june 15th once the they withdrew the cases officially today most properly the channels will get activated.

Anonymous said...

Anyway slowly but surely LBN seems to be getting back to normal.

Anonymous said...

Still waiting LBN

Tech guys,
We are on analog at Soysapura. Lot of subscribers down this way..Still no luck. Even local channells incl Rupavahini cannot be seen. When will the service be restored, please. Customer service says 'in a day or to sir' but this day or two has still not dawn..will it ever dawn.

Anonymous said...

Nothing seems to be beyond Dehiwela Area..

Mt Lavinia
Rathmalana
Soyasapura
Angulana

If somebody from that area gets signals..please confirm

Anonymous said...

Mt. Lavinia juction (start of templers road) seems to be receiving signals.

Anonymous said...

We have 'Signal'..!!

The only 'signal' we have got here at Ratmalana-Angulana up to now is the one made by Unilever -- the stuff which give your teeth a boot-polish shine.
At least, this 'signal' has not failed us the way LBN did.

Anonymous said...

SOS....

LBN tech guys, please enlighten us on the test tansmission situ at Soysapura. Not a hum so far. Is there any hope or will it take another seven months?
This is disgusting, to say the least.

Dear Sir,
WE ARE TESTING THESE DAYS……!

a). Can you explain us as to how the cable network works?

“The cables in some areas are broken with concrete poles. Some are damage & corroded. In some areas electrical power is not coming due to lightning. One of our distribution cubical is burned by someone. Poles are slanting, and various signal-cable problems are there”

“So we are,
1. New cable laying,
2. Planting new poles,
3. New connectors & parts fixing,
4. CEB power connecting,
5. Signal Testing …..”

b). If a cable is broken/down in one area, will it affect the other areas beyond that point?

“ If that customer is fed by broken cable he’ll not work. But for an example, if a dehiwala customer is not working, it will not affect to Mt.Lavinia Or Moratuwa. Why These areas are fed by a different optic fiber cables.”
“As well as If one in Dehiwala Vendervert place also he’ll receive but a cable broken in Initium Road or Alen Av Dehiwala.”

Hi

We are from Castle Lane, CLifford place and sorrounding areas in Colombo 4 and we are not getting any channels clear at our area, not even local channles. we have analog connections.

Please advice.

Also, hope LBN officials are taking pro-ative measures to avoid delays in resoring the connections back as the last thing we want is to stay another 6 months till they rectify all the broken lines, etc etc. As they have stated that they need 2 weeks for this, judging by their past reocords, and we have a feeling that this two weeks will end up being a very very long time period !!

Further, Can LBN give us its subscribers an official statemnt on yesterdays outcome?

C'mon enlighten us.

Look people in all fairness to LBN I think they are doing their very best with the limited resources available. We have to understand that LBN covers a large area and will need time to complete the repairs and have informed their subscribers that they need two weeks to do this. Going by postings here, it is quite clear that the progress has been very good - with more and more subscribers getting the service. We have waited for over 6 months. Let's be a bit patient.

Anonymous said...

Dear Sir/Madam,

Really Sorry…. Our all the channels are not working up to now. The given test signal is ok 75% of the network. The all the “64” channels will be back within few days. After then another 10 or 12 new channels will come with infortainment.

But House to House signal has to be checked,

If you can please check LBN cable and plug it to the TV, ANALOGUE DECORDER DIGITAL DECORDER and see weather signal is coming or not.

IF YOU HAVE,
1. NORMAL TELEVITION

a. Check the LBN cable and plug into the TV.
b. Tune the TV.
c. Check weather channels are coming or not.

2. ANALOGUE DECORDER BOX

a. Plug the LBN cable to the Decorder [cable position]
b. Switch on the Decorder.
c. Select the AV Mode of the TV.
d. Check weather channels are coming.

3. DIGITAL DECORDER BOX.

a. Plug the LBN cable to the Decorder.
b. Switch on the Decorder.
c. If the signal is coming GREEN LIGHT will display.
d. Go to the menu and auto-tune the Decorder. [p.w. 0000 or 7404].

LETHARGIC CUSTOMER SERVICE

Customer Care is not at all helpful. They are reluctant even to take down a complaint. Needs a lot of persuation to get the complaint referred to technical. They are happily trotting out various excuses driving customers who are already sick of this episode, to the wall. Personal experience. The girl asked me who wanted me to make a complaint. Get them to at least read what tech guys respond on this blog. May be, they have become too lazy as they were sitty pretty for 7 months.
Come on ladies, on your feet, there's a job to be done and done fast.
If you all have nothing to do, for Pete's sake DON'T DO IT AT LBN....GO HOME!

Anonymous said...

Anti Customer Service

I agree wholesale. Call it 'Anti Customer Service' All efforts of LBN are being destroyed by the CC girls..they are real brainless idiots. Like parrots they keep on repeating 'there is a problem but everything should be ok soon'.
Close down this so called CS and we will be the happiest as it adds to our woes.

Thanks a lot for the info on Soysapura. I checked with some friends but the signal is still not being received. A cable has apparently snapped in the area where the B28 - B29.... blocks are located. People say this damaged cable is visibly from the upper floors. I really don't know whether the signal is not been received because of this or some other problem.

DEAR ADMIN,

We really appreciate you & your services towards the media industry in this stupid country. It was carefully noticed that your had a clear vision for CBN sat. When its comes to LBN it’s a step mother treatment. We could elaborate on more occasions & with more examples. If your read the CBN blog (which is updated by the employees most of the time.) their were lots of deleted items by the admin. Never no the reason. But in the LBN blog all sinhala filth languages comments still their.

We will challenge you. Come to an area where these both companies have the transmission (Digital). We will see the different.
